Kyle Herman has spent over 20 years advising middle-market companies, creditors, acquirers, and other stakeholders navigating complex corporate restructurings, distressed M&A, and strategic liquidity challenges across a wide range of industries.
Kyle developed the core of his restructuring abilities during a ten-year tenure at Miller Buckfire & Co. in New York City, working on debtor-side restructurings, financings and M&A transactions, both out-of-court and in chapter 9 and 11 cases. After moving back to his home state of Texas, Kyle spent two years as a Managing Director at Berkeley Research Group, spearheading creditor-side mandates and advising institutional lenders on debt restructurings and asset recovery strategies.
In 2019, Kyle initially co-founded Exigent Partners to deliver senior-level advisory services to the middle market before being recruited as a Senior Managing Director at Hilco Corporate Finance to assist in expanding their middle-market special situations investment bank, where he continued to execute complex restructuring transactions. In 2026, Kyle returned to Exigent Partners to provide a nimble, conflict-free alternative for the middle market. The return allows him to deliver high-touch, senior-level execution completely independent of the institutional conflicts and overhead inherent in larger platforms.
Some of Kyle’s notable restructuring cases include: City of Detroit, Peter Pan Seafoods, Ion Media Networks, Allied Holdings, El Paso Children’s Hospital, Standard Pacific Corp., Questex Media Group, The Weinstein Company, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and Keystone Automotive Operations.
Prior to beginning his restructuring career, Kyle worked at J.P. Morgan Securities in Los Angeles, where he structured, syndicated, and managed a $1.5 billion senior debt portfolio for film, television and music companies.
Kyle graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.B.A in Finance and B.A. from the Plan II Honors Program (History concentration). He received his M.B.A. from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a holder of inactive FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses.
